Job Summary
The Maintenance Specialist will oversee the Auto Shop, Air Compressor, and Utility Maintenance teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. This role focuses on supervising employees and contractors to maintain and enhance the reliability of the manufacturing process in a safe and efficient manner. The successful candidate will manage unplanned repairs, foster improvements, maintain certified equipment, and ensure a safe work environment. Additionally, the role involves administering contractor requirements, managing capital projects, facilitating communication, and providing technical input for long-term solutions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervise Auto Shop, Air Compressor, and Utility Maintenance employees, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning and scheduling of team’s responsibilities.
- Supervise employees and contractors completing tasks to maintain and improve the reliability of the manufacturing process in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure unplanned repairs are responded to safely and efficiently, participate with trouble shooting and brainstorming as required.
- Increase efficiency through the Management Operating System (MOS).
- Foster improvements with on-stream time and utilization throughout the department.
- Maintain a safe work environment by modeling safe behavior and ensuring proper safety training and awareness for those in areas of responsibility.
- Administration of contractor requirements: Producing scopes of work for requests for bid. Production of a Safe Plan of Action for all contract jobs. Identify contractor requirements for outage work and follow projects through to completion.
- Manage and maintain certified equipment, including critical lifting equipment, man lifts, and pressure vessels.
- Manage blanket capital projects that fall within the maintenance department including train rail infrastructure.
- Facilitate excellent, two-way flow of communications. Build constructive relationships with management and other departments.
- Provide technical input for solutions to major or long-term issues.
- Provide plant leadership for asbestos abatement activities and ensure we are compliant with the regulations.
- Assist production, maintenance, and engineering personnel to optimize plant operations and costs.
- Coordinate with logistics team to facilitate necessary rail infrastructure repairs and maintenance.
- Participate in planning and projects for improvements of production and reliability.
- Participate in the Surface On-Call list.
- Ensure compliance with all ISO certificates and regulatory entities with maintenance activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Project Management or equivalent experience (5 years) in a refinery or manufacturing environment.
- Three or more years of Project Management experience demonstrated.
- Three or more years of contractor planning, specific to rotary kilns and refractory.
Physical Requirements
Lift 50 pounds, work rotating shifts, stand, walk, climb stairs, and sit for extended periods of time.
