Role Description
The Safety & Industrial Hygiene Specialist will develop and execute the site Industrial Hygiene plan with emphasis on compliance with existing regulations, corporate standards, site procedures, with an emphasis toward protecting employee health.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Conduct comprehensive Occupational Health monitoring for the Green River site.
· Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations while keeping abreast of changing requirements. Prepare, maintain, and update safety policies and manuals.
· Conduct and participate in root cause analyses and process safety mapping and risk assessment.
· Assist with Federal and State site safety inspections. Perform appropriate follow up to correct findings.
· Develop new occupational Health programs. Maintain tracking and data base management of OH programs. Audit systems regularly.
· Support site rescue teams and equipment readiness.
· Travel: Less than 10%
· Site Radiation Safety Officer.
· Maintain and administer respiratory protection fit testing program.
· Able to perform and evaluate annual hearing tests for employees.
· Conduct annual MSHA refresher and training for new hires.
· Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes while focusing on safety and best practices.
· Performs tasks in accordance with the quality and environmental management systems established according to the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO14001 2015 standards.
Minimum Requirements
· Demonstrated excellent written & verbal communication, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
· Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated outstanding communication, coaching, training, and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people at all levels of an organization.
Education and Experience:
· AS degree or equivalent experience in a Safety related field (Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, etc.) or closely related curriculum.
· Bachelors Degree in Occupation Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other related degree preferred.
· Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a refinery or manufacturing environment.
· CIH certification (Certified Industrial Hygienist)
· MSHA IS and IU Certification.
