Role Description
The Electrical Engineer provides required electrical expertise to the team of engineers, I&E professionals, maintenance personnel, and production personnel at the Green River plant in the support of soda ash production in a safe, productive, and cost-effective manner.
Duties Roles and Responsibilities
- Obsolescence identification and infrastructure planning (and Underground mine electrical - if assigned to mine).
- Develop budgets, schedules, and specifications for new electrical infrastructures.
- Understands electrical requirements (and underground mine electrical - if assigned to mine) and ensures these requirements are met and maintained.
- Works in partnership with the Mine and Refinery.
- Responsible for Arc flash protection review and project implementation.
- Develops capital projects based on the identified needs of the mine and leads them to completion as the project manager.
- Supports the underground mine environment 60-70% of the time working with and in support of the underground mine I&E department.
- Demonstrate commitment to safety, leads by example.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes while focusing on safety and best practices.
- Performs tasks in accordance with the quality and environmental management systems established according to the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO14001 2015 standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates ability to learn and implement new technologies and manage increasing levels of complexity.
- High aptitude and significant experience in VFD programming (ABB), PLC Systems (Allen Bradley) and GEI fix.
- Advanced experience with troubleshooting industrial control and power systems.
- Advanced working knowledge and ability to implement National Electrical Code (NEC) as applicable to surface refinery and/or underground mine projects.
- Outstanding communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
- Proven complex project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Well organized, dependable, punctual, strong work ethic.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience providing electrical support in an underground mine and/or an industrial processing facility required.
- Experienced with applicable mine health, safety, and environmental regulations required.
- Strong knowledge of underground mining processes and MSHA regulations required.
- Preferred certifications: MSHA Electrical Card, Journeyman or Master Electrician.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods in a noisy environment.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
- Ability to walk or stand on uneven surfaces.
- Able to meet physical demands of the position.
