Role Description

The Surface Engineer Technician is responsible for assisting both the Project and Process engineering teams by overseeing the CAD system and preparing the design drawings. Reporting on all current project activities.  

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Operate the CAD system and perform duties in support of the Technical Department for Project and Process engineering projects. 
  • Prepare process instrumentation and mechanical design drawings in cooperation with Process and Project Engineers.  Participate in design engineering process with engineers, contractors, and customers.   
  • Provide back-up surveying coverage for mine surveyors. 
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.  
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports of project activities and capital projects as assigned. 
  • Enter all new drawing information, check for accuracy including field verification, maintain database and run status reports. 
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes while focusing on safety and best practices. 
  • Performs tasks in accordance with the quality and environmental management systems established according to the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO14001 2015 standards. 

Minimum Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Initiative and willingness to take on new challenges involving Project and Process engineering support as well as involvement with safety efforts. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Ability to be flexible in work assignments. 

Education and Experience: 

  • An associate’s degree or equivalent formal training program in Drafting.  
  • Extensive experience with AutoCAD and a strong computer background with databases and Microsoft Office.   
  • Surveying experience. 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Prolonged periods in a noisy environment.  
  • Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds at a time.  
  • Regular exposure to extreme temperatures.  
  • Ability to walk or stand on uneven surfaces.  
  • Must wear required PPE in operating areas.  
  • Able to meet physical demands of the position.
