Role Description
Depending on industry specific years of experience and education, this position may be a junior, mid, or senior level Process Engineer. Annual Compensation is DOE.
The Process Engineer conducts analysis on refinery processes and production related problems, prepares recommendations and initiates corrective action. This position provides technical support to operations and engineering designs for projects.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Temporarily at times provide supervisory coverage when needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete technical projects as assigned by Production Engineer.
- Initiate and assist in plant wide testing of operations, process variables, and new raw materials as needed. Supervise testing by directing supervisors, operators, and technicians as required.
- Review all process and equipment downtime. Evaluate reasons and initiate corrective actions. Implement technological improvements to increase productivity.
- Provide necessary coordination between operations & maintenance to accomplish assigned tasks of each group. Supports new installations, repairs and shutdowns.
- Provide supervisory coverage as necessary, on a temporary basis, to fill in for Shift Supervisors, Area Leaders, and Superintendents (may include shift work).
- Keep abreast of daily operating problems and assist supervisors, operators, and superintendents in taking corrective action. Provide technical assistance.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes while focusing on safety and best practices.
- Performs tasks in accordance with the quality and environmental management systems established according to the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO14001 2015 standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical Engineering.
- 1 to 7+ years’ experience providing technical support in an industrial processing facility.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods in a noisy environment.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds at a time.
- Regular exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Ability to walk or stand on uneven surfaces.
- Able to meet physical demands of the position.
