Job Summary
The Surface Maintenance Technician handles the regular maintenance, including predictive maintenance schedules for the surface refinery equipment for all the units assigned.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining PdM systems and procedures to ensure accurate and repeatable data is collected and analyzed, continually researching new technologies and processes.
- Collecting and analyzing route-based condition data and monitoring fault conditions, troubleshooting problem equipment; including but not limited to, using PdM and non-destructible tools for process equipment inspections, equipment upgrade/improvements, and failure/root cause analysis. May require overtime/call-out.
- Utilization of process data historians such as OSI PI to trend events.
- Generating equipment status reports, writing work requests, providing repair recommendations, and remaining life estimates.
- Helping with equipment maintenance as required and assisting/teaching craftsman, supervisors, and planners.
- Completing requirements to achieve certification in ISO level I vibration analysis and one other PM/PdM technology such as Infrared thermography, Ultrasound, and/or PdMA and maintain certifications.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes while focusing on safety and best practices.
- Performs tasks in accordance with the quality and environmental management systems established according to the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO14001 2015 standards.
Required Skills / Abilities
- Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to Windows, Word, and Excel.
- Willingness to continue education and certification in vibration analysis and other PdM disciplines/computer programs.
- Able to work well independently.
- Candidate should be self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of machinery fundamentals, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, etc. Detailed knowledge of general mechanical fundamentals, such as fits and tolerances.
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent, may include specialized or vocational courses.
- At least 5 years’ experience and knowledge of predictive maintenance.
- Certificate or degree in industrial maintenance.
- Familiarity with applicable health, safety and environmental regulations for a mining/manufacturing site.
- Knowledge of basic ISO requirements and the quality system.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No direct reports
- Occasionally utilize internal resources to complete projects
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods in a noisy environment.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
- Able to meet physical demands of the position.
