Environmental Sustainability Specialist

Role Description
We are looking for a “Environmental Sustainability Specialist” to take part in Şişecam Directorate of Sustainability located in Tuzla / İstanbul. The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with a major in Environmental Engineering or similar departments of universities,
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience in LCA, CFP, PEF studies and preparation of GHGE Inventories,
• Verbal and written communication skills in English
• Knowledgeable about standards such as ISO 14064, 14044, 14067, 14040,
• Knowledgeable about reporting frameworks such as TSRS, CDP, GRI, etc.,
• Able to follow international policies and standards, especially the European Union,
• Candidates should possess analytical competence, strong communication skills, a collaborative nature, and a solution-oriented approach.
General Responsibilities:
• Support the development of Şişecam's environmental sustainability strategy, monitor targets, and track performance.
• Follow policies and practices, communicate them within the organization, and guide activities accordingly.
• Contribute to the preparation of strategic documentation and performance reporting.
• Manage environmental sustainability reporting (lender, CDP).
• Assist with internal and external reporting and disclosure obligations related to environmental sustainability (TSRS/TCFD/GRI).
• Coordinate with competent service providers and internal teams for environmental sustainability projects.
• Contribute to the implementation and support of national and international environmental sustainability projects and initiatives.
• Support other projects and initiatives aligned with the strategic goals of the Environmental Sustainability Directorate.
Position-Specific Responsibilities
:
• Collaborate with Sales and Certification teams to address customer demands and strategic priorities.
• Participate in product life cycle analyses for Şişecam's sustainable products and solutions and coordinate environmental product declarations and labeling efforts.
• Ensure customer requirements and market needs are met in product-specific impact assessments, and support certification efforts.
• Create, update, and report life cycle inventories for products and processes.
• Ensure carbon footprint calculations for products and production are conducted in accordance with international standards and support the calculation and monitoring of emission values.
• Follow the requirements of initiatives like SBTi and RE100, and conduct research and analysis related to both mandatory and voluntary carbon markets.
• Monitor and conduct compliant analyses of current policies and standards such as the European Green Deal, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and Product Environmental Footprint Standards.
